A Chicago-bound Amtrak train crashed into a semitrailer stuck on a railroad crossing in Leoni Township. The railroad crossing accident occurred when the truck driver, David Zimmer, was stuck trying to shift between drive and reverse in the middle of the crossing. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. Ten people, including Zimmer, were treated for minor injuries. Amtrak service was restored 14 hours after the crash, which is being investigated.

Delmer Bright, 83, was crossing the train tracks in his Chevy Blazer on Cumberland Avenue in Hazard, Kentucky when an empty CSX train engine hit his vehicle. Tonya Liford witnessed the railroad crossing accident. She said she saw everything and noted the crossing arms started coming down as Bright was driving through the railroad crossing.
